This weeks Summit Conversations is an audio podcast with Scott Drake, the host of The Legal Broadcast Network, Stan Harlan and Chris Harlan. As you can tell from the tone it is a quick review of how the new Summit Settlements Channel is working out, the dramatic increase in traffic on the site and a reminder that a lot of brokers still need to get their profile up and get started. We also spend some time pounding on Chris, who we all know has left the happy world of single life and is getting married this weekend. Congratulations Chris and lets all remember YOU can be on the weekly podcast or have your clients interviewed on The Legal Broadcast Network, you just need to get your profile up and get started.
In this first podcast of the Summit Settlements Channel we introduce the network and do a light hearted review of the frustrations and oddities of learning how to use a social media network. We cover how to sign up, how to get around the "age" issue, how to pick a good profile name and what you can expect in the next few weeks. Listen to this podcast BEFORE you sign up to avoid some simple headaches and confusion.
In this podcast on Speaking of Settlements, Summit broker Mark Wahlstrom talks with national tax expert Robert Wood on the recent Private Letter Ruling on taxable damage cases. There is little doubt that the favorable ruling on taxable damage awards, non-qualified settlements and it's further strengthening of structured legal fees should bring some other life markets into the non-qualified world. Take a few minutes to get up to speed on this important ruling.
Ok, this podcast with Attorney Robert Wood of The Tax Law Channel is NOT about the single claimant issue that we are all eagerly awaiting, but it is about the final regulations as they relate to Section 1.468B-6 which governs trust accounts for section 1031 exchanges. Some of the Summit brokers are involved in this growing niche market which uses the Allstate structured sale product to create a fall back option for failed section 1031 transfers. If you do any structured sales work or plan on doing it, this is a valuable little podcast that points you to resources you need to have.
Stan Harland joins Mark Wahlstrom on Speaking of Settlements in a discussion of the up coming Summit meeting, the new operational focus of Summit and announcing Mark Wahlstrom's partnership with Summit as his general agent.
